Best practices
USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
Since May 2012 is operating a photovoltaic system that feeds the activities of the estate and is also connected to the national electricity company. With a peak power of about 120kW, the system converts sunlight into electricity, reducing the dependence on fossil fuels in energy requirements and avoiding the emission of gases such as CO2. |
USE OF GREEN ENERGY
The sustainable breakthrough starts from the everyday, from simple gestures. Using green energy is a great start. The energy we use in the estate comes from a renewable system that uses wind, water and sun.
The green origin of the energy supplied is guaranteed by REPOWER, certified by TÜV SÜD, an accredited and internationally recognized brand. |
ENERGY SAVING NEW HEATING SYSTEMS
In Villa Emo Capodilista we chose to install a Swedish heating system that uses electric radiators powered with the energy produced by the photovoltaic system. The Swedish radiator is an energy saving electric convector, made from an innovative ceramic resistance contained inside the radiator itself. For chimney effect hot air rises inside the radiator and exits into the external environment sucking cold air from below. The heating element inside works at low temperature (maximum 80 °C). |
ECOLOGICAL SWIMMING LAKE
For our guests we built a swimming lake paying great attention to its integration with the environment. It was realized without concrete and in the water Himalayan salt is used. This salt, as well as having numerous benefits for the human body, allows (through the use of a special elettrocloratore) to avoid the use of disinfection treatments based on chlorine.
This prevents the placing of chlorine in sewage and, in case of drought or emergency, water can be used for agricultural purposes. |
CHARGING POINT FOR E-BIKES
In the estate, at the wine shop, we installed a charging point for E-bikes powered by completely renewable energy sources.
|
HEATING WITH VINES BRANCHES
We work with schools in the province of Padua which we provide, in the form of bales, the shoots of the pruning of the vines that, instead of being thrown away, are collected and provided to schools that will use them for heating; by doing so, the company contributes to cost savings for school facilities and optimizes waste. |
WEATHER STATION
The weather station, powered by a solar panel, monitors all climatic data required and send them automatically to a server. The data, processed by a special software, indicate the periods of incubation, risk of infection, and the percentage of risk. With these data the agronomist decide if, when and how products is needed to prevent or treat diseases of the vine. This allows us to intervene in coverage only when necessary and to use only the necessary products choosing among those with the lowest environmental impact. |
USE OF RECYCLED PAPER
For the packaging we use recycled cardboard.
Also brochures are printed on “Alga Carta” Favini, produced with algae of Venice lagoon and recycled fibers. |
SUPPORT OF VINEYARDS WITH ACACIA WOOD PILES
The vines are supported by acacia wood piles. When possible we prefer to use natural and eco-friendly materials, easy to dispose of at the end of their cycle of use. |
NATURAL DETERRENCE FOR POTENTIALLY HARMFUL ANIMALS
The company is part of the Euganean Hills Regional Park and we feel co-responsible for the maintenance of the biodiversity that characterizes it.
Animals potentially harmful for agriculture and for historical building are removed with natural methods. For example spikes, which damage wooden structures, instead of being hunted are kept away with reflective fittings. |
USE OF GROUND WATER FOR TREATMENT AND GARDENS IRRIGATION
The ground water is used for irrigation of gardens and all those processes that do not need drinking water in order to save valuable resources such as drinking water. |
RECYCLING WASTE
In the estate we apply the recycling waste and we involve also guests in our good practices in waste separation. We provide instructions on how they should apply the distinction, we prepare different bins for the collection with signs and offer the special bags. |
VINIFICATION WITH NATURAL METHODS
The vinification and aging take place in the old cellars, traditionally facing north, with the aim to control the microclimate in the cellar saving energy. |
COLLECTION OF RURAL TOOLS
We like to participate actively in the preservation of local traditions.
We dedicated a space in the estate for a collection of agricultural tools from the past: the tools are cataloged and described by signs; pictures of rural architecture are made by Marina Emo Capodilista. The collection is open to visitors and is part of the educational proposal of the estate. |
WOOD STOVES
In the castle we chose the wood heating with traditional tiled stoves. |
GBE FACTORY AWARD
The estate has been awarded by the European Commission with the “GBE Factory Award” assigned for the use of renewable energy and CO2 savings. |
ECO-CLOUD
We are part of the ECO-CLOUD net, a project that brings together companies that are committed in the use of best practices related to sustainability in the economic, environmental and social area. |
NETWORK OF AGRICULTURAL LABOR QUALITY
We entered the network of agricultural labor quality, set up at INPS (Italian pension institution), in order to select farms that qualify for compliance with the rules relating to employment and social legislation and with respect to taxes on income and value added tax. |
VINI BUONI D’ITALIA
ECOFRIENDLY AWARD 2016: awarded for the commitment of the company in the realization of projects aimed at the protection of the territory and of the vineyard, as well as in the implementation of plans aimed at saving energy and, not least, the production of wines respectful of the health and welfare of consumers. |
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
We expose ourselves, in person if needed, when we believe that the territory that welcomes us to be defended.
We asked, and after long battles obtained, that the power line that would have to cross the Euganean Hills Park with electricity pylons and wires, was buried. |
The Municipality of Selvazzano Dentro has chosen to decorate the new Feriole roundabout with two rows of vines supported by chestnut poles with a rose plant at the ends. Tribute to the surrounding territory of which we feel we are representatives. |
GOLF
Our company is placed in a context of excellence, bordering the Montecchia Golf Club, who is actually involved for years in terms of environmental protection.
Every step taken towards eco-sustainable innovation is evidenced by the numerous awards received; including the GEO Certification thai is just the latest in order of time. |
